Well known for its stylish appeal, tasty beverages, and free Wi-Fi, Starbucks has long pushed the boundaries of innovative design.

Situated in the bustling city of Chicago, customers will find one of the latest flagship stores. Considering how this metropolis is often at the precipice of many design trends, this Starbucks location called for something special.

Upon entering the first floor, it’s easy to mistake the space for just another Starbucks. Yet, the upstairs area boasts a more welcoming vibe with an expanded menu of food and drinks. It’s an inviting area to sit and connect with others. To reach this area, guests take a staircase decorated with Brixton Wovenpanel®. This architectural wire mesh joins the two levels in a chic, sophisticated way.

Brixton’s weave features a twin wire flat top style which adds distinct visual and textural interest to the staircase. To further refine the look, an antique brass plated finish was applied. We think it complements the shabby chic aesthetic found throughout the store. It maintains a reflective, metallic quality that mimics the unique history of Chicago’s impressive structures.

Like many of the items commonly found in Starbucks stores, Wovenpanel® is environmentally friendly. It’s created from approximately 85% post-consumer and 15% percent pre-consumer recycled steel.

The railing becomes a stylish statement while also serving a functional safety purpose. No matter where you are in the store, the open mesh design allows for visibility and ventilation. This unique style of the open floor plan allows guests to make themselves comfortable, but still enjoy the quieter characteristics of having a defined area.

In thousands of spaces around the world, Wovenpanel® is being used to step up the design appeal of interiors. We believe that projects like this are just the beginning of how architectural wire mesh will continue to transform projects here in New Zealand.
