An educational facility should ideally be a place where imagination and knowledge are cultivated and set free. A space that inspires critical thinking to find solutions as opposed to merely settling for the ordinary. These principles are not all that different from our design goals here at Archant. In this unique project, all these characteristics come together brilliantly.

Students and faculty alike are enjoying the beautiful, yet functional application of Wovenpanel® at the Concordia University Wisconsin campus. The scenic grounds are situated on the bluffs which look out over Lake Michigan. It’s not just the abundant natural scenery of the school which adds appeal, but the interior design as well.

This extraordinary vision and design were the work of Mayer Helminiak Architects. It’s been so well received, that the university was the recipient of the Architectural Portfolio Award. This special distinction recognises outstanding design in the post-secondary category from American School & University magazine.

In the two oversized glass-enclosed stairways, Brixton in a stainless-steel wire mesh finish is mounted with dedicated clips. The panels feature a unique open quality that works to maximise the existing light. Whether the source is from the nearby windows or lighting fixtures, the wire mesh glimmers with stylish design appeal.

It's this kind of large open area that makes Brixton a favoured selection for designers who wish to craft different zones in expansive commercial spaces. It’s strong enough to offer protection in the stairwell but lends itself to upscaling the look and feel of the school. We can't think of a better way to line the stairs that will direct so many to higher education, and a bright future.
