As you’ll see in the original photo, the existing fireplace featured black glossy marble, dating back about thirty years. The homeowner sought to bring this important feature up to date by modernising it with the beauty and durability of porcelain.

It’s these kinds of magnificent transformations that Archant helps bring to fruition each year in hundreds of New Zealand homes.

The type of Florim used in this design is called “Metal Burnished” and is a popular choice in the Archant porcelain collection of Metal styles. It’s known for a stunning combination of blacks, browns and greens that mimic the oxidisation effect of metal.

This unique decorative surface brings a mysterious yet opulent quality to the area surrounding the fireplace. With its textured surface of wave-like patterns, the undulating effect gives the surface more depth. The addition of warm tones also aids in the rustic ambience of the living area.

Porcelain was the ideal choice of stone here as it’s resistant to high-temperature and thermal stress, scratch-proof, built to last, and easy to maintain. It was created with a natural blend of ceramic clays and mineral colourants. Our diverse range of Florim stone slabs is made in Italy and was developed for the most demanding of designs and applications. By leveraging nature and technological innovation, this revolutionary surface combines performance and functionality with the maximum personalisation of space.

As you can see, Archant’s large format porcelain stoneware can be used in a wide variety of applications. This high level of flexibility opens new frontiers in design environments, ensuring the ultimate freedom of expression. It proved invaluable for this project, restoring new life to a dated fireplace with a beautiful and timeless appeal.

With the world-renowned character of Italian design and the most advanced technologies, these porcelain designs boast well-defined personality wherever they’re applied.
