Is it possible to renovate a kitchen with modern appeal while maintaining the original charm of an older home? We believe this project shows exactly how it’s done. Leveraging the clean and bright appeal of Marble White in porcelain was the perfect choice to upscale this space. With an understated pattern, it provides classic styling without dominating the room.
The homeowner is a prolific chef who required ample benchtop space to prepare exquisite meals. Of course, surface durability and ease of maintenance were also critical factors in deciding on the worktop material. Instead of wasting time cleaning and caring for the bench, porcelain is quick to simply wipe down with warm soapy water and a sponge. There’s no need to apply any special cleaning products or sealants.
This stylish but versatile solution gives users the ability to cut directly onto the surface without the need for a surface block. With a non-porous quality, it’s completely hygienic and food safe. Add the incredible benefits of stain, scratch, and heat resistance, and you have a counter that’s up to any task. This convenient functionality is one of the reasons Archant porcelain is becoming a favourite choice for kitchen design in New Zealand.
As an added design element, the homeowner used Marble White porcelain of 6mm thickness for the gorgeous splashback. The reflective quality of the stone bounces light back into the room while also protecting the walls from grease and food splatter.
The generously sized double bowl Franke sink in stainless steel makes quick work of handling large cookware. Coupled with the timeless shape of the gooseneck tap, the overall aesthetic joins classic design with modern convenience.
Shortly after the installation, we asked the homeowner for a real-world review of her new kitchen. Her thoughts echo the sentiments of the thousands of Archant porcelain owners we’ve worked with previously.
"I am really pleased with the bench tops and splash backs. They look great and are so easy to keep clean. Everything wipes off so perfectly including a bit of curry sauce, with lots of turmeric in it, that I accidentally left on the bench top (hiding behind the slow cooker) overnight. No staining at all. A very good test!"
