An eye-catching installation of Chafford Wovenpanel® commands attention in the NH Collection Copenhagen lobby. The hotel, located on the waterfront in Copenhagen, Denmark, was built in the 1950s as the headquarters for a shipyard.
Arkitema Architects stayed true to the building's historical surroundings when renovating the five-star hotel.Incorporating rich wood tones, warm colours, and shining brass into the design, the architects created a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
As guest enter the lobby, they are immediately drawn to the unexpected wire mesh feature. There are 18 square brass Wovenpanel® ceiling tiles adorning the stairway. There’s also a softly glowing chandelier with intersecting straight lines that highlights the display.A slight difference in thickness between the sides of each tile box is reflective of the rolling water outside the hotel's doors.
This brilliant design and use of Wovenpanel® hide the inner supports of the ceiling panels. Coupled with the highly reflective brass wires of Chafford, the warm glow of the framework light fixture shines. With a large percentage of open mesh area, the wires contrast the darkness visible from within. outshining the shadows and forming a plane that appears near solid. This captivating interaction between light and shadow of the wire mesh results in a ceiling fixture that enhances the modern establishment.
