What is the difference between Quartz vs Porcelain?

What is the difference between Quartz vs Porcelain?

Archant offers two stone options, Quartz and Porcelain, each varies in its aesthetics, performance, customisability and maintenance which allows you to choose the stone that best suits you and your lifestyle.

Quartz has a wide range of consistent surface colours that give you the opportunity to match your surface to cabinetry, sink ware, tapware or handle-ware. This stone type contains the natural texture of stone with less porosity, higher material performance and aesthetic consistency.

Porcelain is perhaps the most forgiving and functional yet beautiful and customisable. This surface will maintain a consistent look over its long lifetime due to its strong resistance to any form of wear. Not only does porcelain boast material superiority but also offers a range of choices guaranteeing attention to detail, stylistic research and tailoring.

When choosing a stone option for your project consider the following factors: warranty, design, durability and application. To ensure you choose the stone that best fits your lifestyle and application.

Warranty

Peace of mind comes as standard with both our Archant Quartz and Archant Porcelain range, both produced to an extremely high quality. Archant Quartz offers a 12 year warranty where as Archant Porcelain boasts a lifetime warranty.

Design

From a design perspective, both our Quartz and Porcelain range comes with a range of colour options to suit all design requirements. Our Quartz range is available in 30mm and 20mm thick slabs whereas our Porcelain range is available in thinner 12mm and 6mm slabs.

Archant Porcelain is available in 2 finish options. Matte is smoother and flat in its structure, with more movement and slightly less depth. Velvet has a slightly wavy structure to the touch and gives the material greater depth.

Durability

The most advanced manufacturing process is used to produce Archant Quartz and Archant Porcelain, they are both truly durable Italian surfaces.

Archant Porcelain has the added benefit of being resistant to thermal stress and ultra-high temperatures. This means you can place hot pans directly on the surface without causing any damage to the stone.

Archant Quartz is a non-porous surface, this makes the surface highly resistant to scratches and stains from daily household products such as coffee, wine, lemon juice, olive oil, vinegar and makeup. Although these spills will not stain, this surface does need additional maintenance and may need deep cleaning and thorough wipe down to remove these spills.

Archant Porcelain has superior stain and scratch resistance. As it is a mixture of raw materials, our porcelain contains no resins so it does not stain or yellow. Porcelain has exceptional qualities and any spills simply wipe off the surface leaving no residue behind and no need for scrubbing.
