What is the Best Sink? Franke vs Schock vs Robiq (Comparison)

When searching for the perfect sink for your kitchen project in New Zealand, there’s certainly no shortage of fantastic options. While this is advantageous for buyers, it can sometimes be challenging to understand the subtle differences between them.

At Archant, we believe that educating our clients empowers them to make the right choice for their homes. In this article, we’ll be taking a closer look at three of the most popular and well-made sinks on the market today.

Franke, Schock, and Robiq have long dominated the marketplace with their exquisitely crafted sinks. Yet the question remains, which bowl is the best model for your project? There are a few main characteristics to compare including price, warranty, bowl configurations, build material, and size. In comparing, you’ll find many similarities, but certain aspects that are unique to each.

The good news for homeowners is that all these brands are renowned for the highest quality sinks. As thousands of our customers will tell you, there is no bad choice among these options. By the end of this article though, we trust you’ll have a better idea of which one will serve your needs best.

Robiq

Our most popular range, the Robiq sinks are a staple in New Zealand homes for good reason. For starters, they are handmade from 1.2mm thick stainless steel as opposed to being machine-pressed. This level of craftsmanship lends itself to a high-quality finish that’s second to none.

Each model offers a high-capacity overflow to avoid unfortunate spills, coupled with new and improved drain lines for fast draining. They are also coated with sound-deadening spray for quiet and efficient use.

As for styles, Robiq has a wide variety to choose from to suit every need. From the standard square single bowl to the more flexible double bowl configuration, there is no reason to compromise on convenience. To that extent, all Robiq’s double bowls are also reversible. This allows you to reconfigure the sink to your liking based on your workflow preferences.

For larger jobs, Robiq project pricing is available to high-volume users. Finally, the entire range comes with a standard 30-year warranty for excellent piece of mind.

Franke

The Bolero Box by Franke is a similar range to the Robiq, but of higher quality. While the product is built to stand the test of time, it is still cost-effective for the overall incredible build of the sinks. The range is made from 18/10.304 Stainless Steel which is a superior grade of material. They also feature a 12mm radius around the edge making clean-up a cinch.

The overflow is also branded by Franke for superior craftsmanship, and the bowls are coated with a sound-deadening spray for whisper-quiet use. It comes in many sizes and configurations from smaller single bowls to a more spacious double bowl layout.

While the double bowls aren’t reversible, they have an SBR or an SBL, referring to “small bowl right/left”. This makes for a convenient workflow that best matches your needs.

As a testament to the quality of Franke sinks, all models come with a generous 50-year warranty for the ultimate piece of mind.

Schock

All EcoGranit bowls by Schock are made with 85% quartz and the remainder from resins and acrylics to mould and colour. The Aoraki is the most popular range, predominately in single bowls. However, two double bowl options are also available. There are three colour choices to choose from for your bowl. In addition, they offer interchangeable waste and overflow with different colours to match your design.

Schock also offers three other models including the Egmont with a square bowl and drainer in three sizes. It can be under and over mounted to a benchtop depending on your preference. Another popular option is the Snowdon, which has a tap bay. This currently only comes in one size, but three different colours.

For the most cost-effective bowl from Schock, be sure to check out the Kaikoura. This model is round and can be under and over mounted. Like all the Schock selections, it has interchangeable waste and overflows with different colours to match the three bowl colour options.

Schock sinks are all made in Germany, leveraging a long history of stellar design. Each model comes with a 30-year warranty to protect your investment.

Comparing the Main Takeaways

As you can see, all these brands provide long-lasting and beautiful sinks that have made them leaders in the design industry. Each has an extensive range of amazing products that will be a welcome addition to any kitchen. To recap, here are the main takeaways:

  • For the highest quality stainless steel sinks, and the longest warranty (50 years), look at the Franke Bolero Box collection. While you’ll pay a bit more for these models, they are an incredible value for the quality they offer.

  • If, however, you want the flexibility of a reversible bowl or a more cost-effective option, the Robiq models in stainless steel are not to be missed. The warranty of 30 years is still comprehensive to ensure lasting value.

  • Homeowners looking for a unique sink that differs from stainless steel will appreciate the modern beauty of the Schock EcoGranit range. These unique bowls come in three different colours for ultimate design flexibility and a 30-year warranty.
