What are the Possible Applications of Wovenpanel™?
Wovenpanel™ - It’s a catchy name, but you’re likely wondering what it even is. For starters, it’s a decorative woven wire mesh range for architects and interior designers. There are many styles and finishes to consider including a variety of mesh sizes and opacity. Everything is manufactured in the USA with superior quality materials. The team that produces Wovenpanel™ are leveraging many generations of experience with woven and welded mesh products.

While that is the technical description of the product, it doesn’t come close to explaining the infinite design potential it offers. Here’s another way of saying it - With Wovenpanel™ you have a chance to re-envision your space and create something that is limited only by your imagination. Some choose to feature it in intricate design details, while others prefer large scale applications. Curious to hear more? Let’s look at some of the ways designers are using it.
Small Splashes of Style
You can use Wovenpanel™ sparingly and still highlight the important design features in a space. Take for example this custom fireplace in the Jane Hope Residence. It’s modern and sleek and stands apart in terms of its unique beauty.

Another fantastic use of this appears in the Cherryville Residence. In this gorgeous space, it’s used in two creative ways. First is the incredible chandelier which is unlike any light fixture we’ve ever seen before. Then they accented the stairway beautifully with the Bexley pattern along the handrail.

Cabinetry is also an ideal place to apply Wovenpanel™. Look at the amazing ways it was used in these pantry areas at the Big Sky Residence. Not only does it look great, but the open style of mesh allows for ventilation. This can be quite useful with food storage that requires some air passing through.

The Willow Creek Residence (pictured below) also leverages Wovenpanel™ in the kitchen with an incredible design of cabinetry and cladding. Of course, these are just a few examples of clever ways to use this product in your space.

Living Finishes
You really can use Wovenpanel™ anywhere if it’s indoors and protected from the elements. Even when used inside, the materials can start to oxidise and shift colour over time. This is especially true with our line of “Living Finish” selections. These contain uncoated and unlacquered brass, bronze, or copper material. The finish will age over time, developing a natural patina and offering different shades depending on the environmental conditions. Here’s an example of how it’s changed with the Clement style.
If you would rather not see this happen, a protective lacquer can be applied.

Going Big
The above examples were mostly in residential spaces, but what about larger commercial areas? We’ve been fortunate enough to see some incredible projects where Wovenpanel™ transformed a place of business.
Perhaps one of the more dramatic displays of this is at the Bodega Garzon Winery. They used Loxford in brushed brass to create stunning space dividers and displays. With a thin rounded weave and open fill, Loxford features a square mesh pattern with wide spacing. This allows full light to pass through the space, creating maximum visibility. These qualities make it a great fit in industrial spaces where a modern style is desired.

Loxford Wovenpanel™ was also used in the surface cladding at the Sushisamba restaurant (pictured below). Notice the clever use of illumination highlighting each panel. The resulting space is sophisticated with an infusion of warm and inviting light.

These decorative features can also serve a functional purpose. We see that with the clever space dividers in the Lincoln Square Suites. Using Clement Wovenpanel™, a distinct separation of space was created. Yet, this division still maintains an openness to the design thanks to the large mesh pattern being used. Itadds visual texture and a dynamic circular aesthetic. By combining stainless steel and brass, the intertwined panel has an organic appeal to it.

One of our favourite examples is in the Domaine Chandon restaurant. The interior was conceived by design practice Foolscap Studio and utilises two of our Wovenpanelᵀᴹ products in several ways throughout the space. When asked about the style choices of Chadwell and Crofton, Freeman said “The three-dimensionality of the woven metal mesh catches the light, throwing it back into the space, and enhancing the sense of drama, luxury and bespoke craftsmanship, themes key to the conceptual narrative.” It’s this type of thoughtful application that has made Wovenpanel™ a sought-after element in designs both large and small.
