Finally, we’ll discuss the aspects that are used to determine the cost and will give you a way to expedite your order if desired.
By the end of this piece, you’ll have a much better understanding of how Wovenpanel® can add impact to projects of all scopes and sizes. From residential kitchens and living areas to corporate settings and retail spaces, this wire mesh is versatile enough for any number of applications. Let’s take a closer look!

Why Are NZ Designers Choosing Wovenpanel®?
Wire mesh is not typically the first thing people think about when designing their space. While it may not be a necessity, you may be surprised at the value Wovenpanel® adds.
Here’s a summary of the top five benefits:
- Unique Visual Appeal for Vertical Surfaces
- Rustic Finishes Offer a Warm Quality
- Allows for Ventilation and Light to Pass Through
- Stylish Solution to Divide a Space
- Adds Texture and Contrast
Let’s talk about each of these in more detail.
From small cabinetry applications to vast commercial spaces, architectural mesh introduces a new layer of design sophistication. It’s one of those design elements that you wish you had installed sooner once you see the impact it makes.
Wovenpanel® also works to provide a sense of privacy without completely sectioning off the room. This makes it ideal for open floor plans, or to create a separate environment in a larger area. Pair this with balustrading, rails, and staircases, and the mesh works to not only serve a purpose but add style. It’s this kind of dual-purpose capability that makes Wovenpanel® an exciting design solution.
For areas that are lacking in contrast or texture, the walls can appear a bit dull and lacking in depth. This problem is easily resolved with just a small addition of wire mesh. You can incorporate artificial illumination to accentuate each panel. The way that wire interacts with the light gives an understated shimmering appeal. It’s in this subtle nature of wire mesh that we see its richness. Sometimes it’s the small things that make the biggest impact.

Are There Any Cons to Wovenpanel®?
If you’re looking to apply your decorative surface outdoors, wire mesh is not an ideal solution. With an alloy base, it would rust and eventually corrode from the elements. This oxidation process would happen quite fast in areas near the sea. For these reasons, we strongly recommend limiting your use of Wovenpanel® to interior applications only. When used inside, your panels will last for the foreseeable future. Maintenance is as simple as a light dusting or gently wiping down with non-abrasive cleaners.
How is the Pricing of Wovenpanel® Determined?
There are a few main aspects of your Wovenpanel® design that will affect the price. They are as follows:
Mesh Size: If the opacity of your desired pattern is largely see-through, it uses less material than opaque styles that don’t offer as much visibility.
Weave Complexity: Do you envision a simple weave or something more complex? The less intricate it is, the lower the price. Panels that feature a detailed weave are much more involved to manufacture and are therefore priced accordingly.
Amount of Raw Material: Our Wovenpanel® sheets are quite large, measuring 2,4 x 1 metre. For residential use, this may be all that’s needed. The Archant team has also been involved with many large-scale commercial applications of wire mesh that required dozens of panels.
Additional Framing or Wrapped Edges: Thanks to the flexibility of Wovenpanel® there are all kinds of imaginative ways to use it. Sometimes these visions will require some add-ons to make them a reality. This can include framing the mesh panel with steel and/or timber.
Another popular alternative is to wrap the pliable panel around the base of an island or structure to create a rounded and sleek appearance. This is possible to create but typically requires some welding and labour to set up.

Style Options
Wire mesh is anything but a one-size-fits-all solution. You can choose from a wide range of colours and finishes to best match your aesthetic. Some of the modern and sophisticated options are black copper, dark oxide, and stainless-steel styles. For a warmer vintage look, there’s antique brass and brushed brass. It’s not just the colours that are unique, but the pattern, crimp style, and opacity that are also quite different.
While technical, you may be interested to learn more about how Wovenpanel® is made. We have a separate article over here with those specifics. Manufacturing aside, it’s the visual appeal of wire mesh that adds value to the spaces it’s applied.
