How long have you been in business?
After 10 years in various construction industry and joinery industry roles and working as a freelance kitchen designer on and off for many years, I started my own business in 2019 as a kitchen designer organising and managing projects from design to completion.
In 2021 I merged with a joinery company and founded the company Bespoke Joinery & Kitchens which offers custom joinery solutions for both the commercial and residential markets.
What do you enjoy in business?
I enjoy getting involved with new opportunities and working on the growth of the company to move the company forward in the most innovative and efficient way possible. I’m passionate about getting stuck into a challenge and creating solutions to see real results growing the business both financially and professionally.
What inspired your shift to the 100% Zero Silica Acralux surface?
With recent media coverage in NZ and Australia on high silica engineered stone, the Acralux surface naturally made sense as a 100% silica free benchtop solution, and the fact it was available in such a nice range of veined colours giving the same beauty of marble and stone, but without the silica.
By embracing zero silica surfaces, we've not only ensured a safer workplace but also boosted productivity.

How has this change impacted your manufacturing process?
It’s revolutionised our operations. Typically, we would rely on outsourced fabricators to manufacture the benchtops and splashbacks, however with Acralux I am able to use my existing joinery equipment and fabricate in our factory.
This gives me about a 2-week production time advantage and often further time savings as we can template on site at the same time the kitchen is installed, this saves further time and allows us to meet tighter deadlines and have a happy client sooner.
Could you talk about the cost benefits you have experienced?
Acralux has been a bit of a game changer financially. The large format sheet sizes of 3200mm x 1600mm x 20mm means there is minimal wastage and full optimisation of the slab which is great when offering the typical new home Kitchen Island & Hobb benchtop configurations and other commercial applications where size matters. Often with other slab sizes we would need to cut into a second sheet but now we can achieve the same outcome by fully utilising the large format sizes.
And of course the fact we can now manufacture the entire kitchen including the benchtop and splashbacks, means there are obvious time and cost savings which can be passed on directly to the client without compromising the quality which is paramount.
Any final thoughts?
I’d like to emphasize that we are more than just a traditional joinery company and whether you have a large-scale development or a small kitchen fit-out just give us a call and we will be glad to further discuss the benefits of using Acralux surfaces for your next project. All the best.
